Dan Drost holds a bachelor of arts degree in political science, with an emphasis in international relations, from Old Dominion University and a master's degree from Kent State University. Previously, Drost owned and published a sports newspaper and sports cartoon. In 2003, Drost was granted federal whistleblower protection status for exposing government fraud, waste, and abuse. Drost lives in northeastern Ohio with his wife, Janice; daughter, Mariel; and cats, Zydrunas Ilgauskas and Oia Santorini.
